About Us

How It All Began

​

The Orchard was founded in November 2019. It all began with 12 single mothers in need of assistance with baby basics such as diapers and formula as well as groceries.  Our numbers grew exponentially in 2020 due to the pandemic, our airport closed and thousands of people were unable to work. We quickly found ourselves assisting over 90 families with groceries including fresh fruit and vegetables. Since 2020 we have created a network of volunteers to identify and assist families and individuals needing temporary or full-time assistance through schools and community outreach in Providenciales, and in 2022 expanded to North and Middle Caicos. We work closely with them to identify those most at risk including the elderly, single mums and those struggling with long term health issues.

How It Works

We are a core team of 4 who work closely with our network of volunteers. When a family or individual is identified there is a vetting process in place, once completed we establish their needs and they are added to our monthly Food Drives until needed.

We are a ZERO cost operation allowing 100% of all donations to be allocated towards the purchase of food items including fresh fruit and vegetables.  Our volunteers bag groceries specific to each family's needs and then our amazing volunteers collect and distribute. We currently assist in excess of 120 families (390 adults and children) and the demand is ever growing, regrettably.
